HOLLY SPRINGS, NC – A microbrewery is opening up in the Triangle area of North Carolina in a small town a few miles from Raleigh.

The Bombshell Beer Company will be opening up soon in Holly Springs, North Carolina.  According to the company’s website, they will be opening later this summer.  Photos on their page show the building being refitted inside along with equipment installations.

The new brewery is owned by Ellen Joyner, Jackie Hudspeth, and Michelle Minuitti.  The head brewer is Stephen O’Neill formerly of Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh.  The three owners were involved in homebrewing before starting their venture.

“Ellen has been home brewing for more than a decade,” says their website. “In 2011, Michelle joined Ellen in brewing and the plan for Bombshell began. Jackie joined in the fun and opportunity in 2012.”

The three say on their website that starting a brewery owned by three women should be viewed in historical context.

“Until Medieval times, it was the woman’s job to brew beer for the household and laws of that time stated that the tools of brewing were solely the woman’s property,” says their website.

The brewery will also have a tap room at their facility.

Bombshell Beer Company’s 5,840 sq. ft building is conveniently located in the heart of Holly Springs within the Omni business park located off N.Main St. The building will house the production brewery, lab and a 1400 sq. ft. tasting room.

Their new brewery features a custom designed 15 barrel steam fired brewhouse manufactured by SMT Food and Beverage Systems of Stokesdale, North Carolina, a town which ironically has a moonshine still on it.

“Our equipment is crafted by US workers and made of US stainless steel, a key factor of why we selected SMT as our equipment manufacturer,” says Bombshell on its website.  ”Supporting American workers and American Industry was important to the Bombshell founders.”

The brewery is located at 120 Quantum Drive in Holly Springs, North Carolina.  You can see updates on their Facebook page listed below as well as their main website.  They are scheduled to open soon.  ::
